New to the fold

Hello, everyone.  I am a pagan, but I do get along with Wiccans.  I am not a Wiccan, because I do not follow any specific tradition.

A little about me:  I'm 32, and I have an elven spirit lover, whom I have been with since I was seventeen.  He is my guide and protector, and I also consider him my familiar spirit, because he helps me with my magic.

I have a form of magic I have created, called 'Chevalomancy,' which involves using the images of horses (particularly their colors and markings) for the sake of spell work and divination.

I don't often use candles in my spells, but I do use incense, which I find has a more potent effect.  I have an air element affinity, so apparently that explains my love of incense.

I am eager to meet other like-minded souls;  I only just recently started a journal for the sake of discussing my pagan beliefs (and my spirit lover), and I would love to add people to my friends list.  If anyone would like to friend me, let me know.  :)

Hi :) I'm new to this sort of thing, but I'm excited to learn and I would love to friend you if that's okay with you. I'm interested in spirit guides, and Chevalomancy sounds fascinating.

First of all, you seem to have a god complex, so you appoint your beliefs and expect others to accept them.

Secondly, I have at least two books on the subject of spirit companions, so I am not the only one who practices this.

You tell my guardian that there's no fucking way that we can have intimate relations. If he tells you that I'm deluded, then fine.

I don't buy the fact that you are an expert in anything. The person you've just attacked is a friend of mine, so it's my turn to get my claws and teeth out.

Benign spirits often make love to mortals. For a wiccan, you are amazingly close-minded. Also, if you accuse my friend of being a horse worshiper again, I'll bust your head wide open.

Your 'pantheons' don't impress me, so don't try to make yourself appear bigger and more important than you really are. After all, you're just a mere mortal.

Wow

Who are you to tell someone else what is, or is not allowed?

Your not the only one who has that background either and it certainly doesn't give you the right to be so rude to someone who practices something different than you.

I haven't read the rest of the comments yet, but I'd like to say... WHAT?

A. THERE ARE NO LAWS IN ECLECTIC PAGANISM. You want to write a bible? YOU WILL BE THE ONLY ONE FOLLOWING IT.

B. You know absolutely nothing about the poster, or the poster's spirit lover. You are in no position to make judgments of any kind.

C. Dolls were mentioned where?

D. Using images of horses for the purpose of spellwork and divination does not constitute horse worship. It constitutes using images of horses for spellwork and divination. However, if it did, why would that be at all an issue?

E. Just because you have been doing something a long time does not mean you know anything. And as it applies to paganism, it definitely doesn't mean you know anything about anyone else's practices. That's the thing with paganism; you can take things from anywhere, or you can take them from nowhere you've seen before, and what you get in the end will still fit into the absolutely gigantic umbrella of paganism. You can learn from someone, you can be taught, but you cannot be RIGHT. There is no RIGHT in paganism.

Original poster: I promise, we're not all like that. OMG srsly you guys. You guys, srsly.

LOL! Ever read the Book of Enoch, where ANGELS had sex with women? Ignorant much? This is something that has been talked about in occult literature for thousands of years. Get a grip. SEX is not the domain of "Demons" or "lower spirits". Maybe you need to re-examine your relationship to sex and your body if you think so.

But no pagan i know, anywhere,in any pantheon , has been fucking a doll for 15 years ,while allegedly in the throes of love with a spirit .

Me neither, and I've known a LOT of nutters in the Pagan community.

Like the lady at a festival who was convinced the snake sunning itself across the path was, in fact, her ex-husband (who wasn't dead, by the way).

Or the person who was convinced she was part-fey and therefore allergic to iron (a key ingredient in steel), yet managed to use stainless steel eating utensils with no bad side effects.

But this one definitely takes the prize for the NUTTIEST EVAH!

[info]sheta_kaey

Steel is a tempered form of iron, so allergy issues are not as common. However, I have an iron allergy (I can't wear hematite, for example), and steel does bother me if I wear it in my ears, but not for casual contact. For skin allergies to really show up, a person has to have sustained contact if the allergen is not something that leaves oil on the skin (e.g. poison ivy). I can't even wear surgical steel, although it bothers me less than stainless steel.

Regarding sex with spirits, it's not unheard of, but she's the only one I've met who used a doll. Just because one hasn't heard of a thing doesn't mean it's crazy. We're always expanding our range of experience and knowledge... some things just stretch the limits of an open mind more than others. ;)

just a general comment to the gang...

i love it that i tried explaining to my friend the other day that there are no "pagan fundamentalists". well, proved me wrong. i didn't realize that pagans are just as bad as some monotheist religions in their presumption that there are absolute rules and they know them all and thus have the need to attack people that they think don't coincide with their rules of engagement.

i don't pretend to be a elder or know a whole lot, so arguments would be dull because obviously i'm just ignorant. but my opinion is steadfast in respecting others and not name-calling in the expression of your own personal view. it seems perfectly possible to express concern about others' practices without being so hostile. i think that calm discussion would also probably bring out a troll.

so i guess i'm just saying, whoa people, breathe.

Re: just a general comment to the gang...

With all due respect. I think your comment, while on the surface, great, however... There are times and places to put the polite face down, and call out the bullshit.

I just want to know where the OP said she used a blow up doll? This is like a game of telephone.

1. Seraphyx, I seriously could give a crap what you do in your house on your time. It's your life not mine, and no one, ESPECIALLY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNETS can comment on that. That being said, I think theres a way to go about saying things like that, and really, if you say things like that, people will REACT.

2. I am saddened to see crystalplumage really give it to Seraphyx. Let me just say, that NEVER in my life have I ever seen someone as nasty and close minded as you (even from Christian people!). An animal totem is an animal totem. It doesn't matter what, or where it comes from. That is OBVIOUSLY her power animal, but you wouldn't know that, even with 30 years of *and I quote* "as an elder of at least 3 pantheons ,and my backgorund in santeria, palo, wicca ,buddhism, hinduism and the like... , sorry--not buying it." I've always said that the people who spew the most bullshit and usually bullshitting themselves and everyone else too.

3. I am glad however, to see alot of people in this community stand up and say "Hey! WTF is going on?" Kudos to you guys.

Anyways, thats all I have to say.

I couldn't agree more! Saraphyx isn't harming anyone... but all those people who said such hurtful things to her are. So I hope next time a certain "elder" wants to go on a "I'm the better Pagan" tirade, maybe they'll remember that in this situation they were completely incapable of just letting someone live their life.

Saraphyx, I'm adding you. I'd love to hear more about using horse images.

Hi

I read most of what the people said and they had no right to attack you in that fashion. If you want, I'll add you to my friends list. I hope this doesn't deter you from either posting to this community or joining other communities. I wish you luck on your path.

Blessed Be.

Wow there is so much hurt and pain in this thread. I am not a wiccan nor do I follow any organized religion -- But do consider myself a Pagan. We all have our ways of practice there is no one true way or their would be *one religion* and so far in my limited experience there is not one there are many.

As far as the Horse there are Horse Totems, just google it and you will find many sites dedicated to Horse Totems.

As far as Fairy/gods/spirit guide/angel/etc.. Lovers- Well that's not very far fetched either. Having a Fairy lover runs rampant in mythology.

Jumping on this late

I was going to write back right away, but I didn't know if it was appropriate for me personally to. I do not believe in magic, and I do not practice witchcraft, and I worship neither gods nor goddesses, but this body has performed rituals and spells many many times and has dedicated itself to more than one goddess and called on more than one god. I have never had sexual interactions with my spirit guide, but this body has. Confusing?

Go ahead and take a look at my LJ profile, and if you're still confused, go take a look at the profile for [info]20splinters. Feel free to friend one or the other, or both, and I'll friend you back.

Re: Jumping on this late

Hi, Troy.

I'm sorry, I didn't know you weren't a pagan. I hope it's all right with you if I am. If you're curious about me, I would have no problem with sharing my insights with you.

Sure, I'd be glad to friend you. :)
